Gas Explosion Simulation Gexcon FLACS-CFD + Siemens Simcenter Nastran
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) simulation of structure shock and vibration caused by gas leak that leads to an explosion. NING Research Engineers from the CFD and FEA teams conducted the FSI simulation using Gexcon FLACS-CFD and Siemens Simcenter Nastran.
The CFD engineers simulated the gas explosion using FLACS-CFD to calculate transient pressure surrounding the structure. The pressure data is imported to Simcenter Nastran (via Femap) by the FEA engineers to conduct blast load analysis using Nastran nonlinear transient solver. The input blast load resulted in structure shock and vibration responses.
Information such as structural stress, strain and displacement can be retrieved to assist FEA engineers to optimize structural design for blast/explosion resistant structure.
